Welcome Back!

2010 is here and we have a lot of exciting events lined up for this semester! Be sure to check all the information tabs to see what new information has been added.  Here is a brief overview of what you can look forward to this spring semester:

**Be sure to attend our first meeting to get all the details! We will be having several prize giveaways at the meeting and we will also be having a frozen yogurt bar!**

October 12th Meeting

If you couldn’t make the meeting here is what you missed:

• There are a lot of new volunteer opportunities coming up this month so be sure to check the volunteer tab.

• Information has also been added to the ADA events and SDA events so check them out too.

• We have decided on a t-shirt design and they will be available soon. The cost will be around $10 but we will have more information soon

• Stephanie & Sarah are creating a SDA cookbook to sell for fundraising.  If you have a recipe that you would like to submit please e-mail them at Camey123@live.missouristate.edu or Strouse16@live.missouristate.edu

• Our own Emily Rich has been nominated for homecoming queen! Please help support SDA’s wonderful activities coordinator and vote for Emily Rich for Homecoming Queen!

Meeting #2

For those of you who couldn’t make it to the meeting here is what you missed:

• Our wonderful professor Sarah Murray is our new SDA advisor! She is also running the Journal club which is a great opportunity for learning and getting experience for our portfolios. She will be posting information on BMSDAV soon!
• This Friday Lori is leading  a service even at the Juvenile Courthouse from 7:00-7:45 pm. e-mail her at Forsberg10@missouristate.edu  if you are interested.
• Thursday September 24th Betsy Smith will be taking a group to Ozark Food Harvest’s Kid cafe to teach a food lesson.  They will be meeting at profession at 4:00 pm then heading out together. For more information refer to the Volunteer tab
• SDA Dues are due October 1st to Sarah Camey or into the SDA mailbox.  They are $20 for the year or $15 for those graduating in December

 

**** We are collecting Money, Giftcards(gas, walmart ect.), and non perishable food items for our own SDA member Jaclyn Gilliam   Her boyfriend was recently in an accident in Indiana and is in the hospital. She is carrying a busy schedule and is going to be traveling back and forth from Springfield to Indiana frequently so we want to help her in any way we can. There is a box in the Dietetics office at the front desk where you can leave your items.

SDA T-Shirts

Due Friday, September 11th are t-shirt designs! Drop your SDA t-shirt design in the manila folder located on the SDA bulletin board. After designs are submitted, SDA officers will narrow the choices down and you’ll get the chance to vote on which design submitted is your favorite for the 2009-2010 SDA t-shirt! Once a design is selected prices will be announced and you can order your t-shirt!

1st SDA Meeting a success!

The First SDA meeting was a great success! We had 38 dietetics students attend as well as our new professor Dr. Kwon.  During the meeting we discussed the Volunteer opporutnities that will be coming up this semester (refer to volunteer/event tab) and SDA dues.  Dues will be $20 dollars for fall 2009-spring 2010 and $15 for Seniors graduating December 2009.  The due date for these is October 1st and they can be turned into Sarah Camey, the SDA treasurer, at the next meeting on September 16th (refer to event tab)  or they can be turned into the SDA mailbox (in the dietetic offices) in a envelope with your name on it (Checks made out to SDA).

 

Back to school event!

The Student Dietetics Association will be having our first get together this Tuesday, September 1st 2009 at 6PM on the Freddy residence hall lawn.  Pizza, drinks and desserts will be provided so come out meet your professors, officers and fellow students!
